UPF Rating: 50+
☀️ Read about UV Protection in Fabrics - Your Total UPF Rating Guide

Important Note about UPF Ratings:
Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates how much UV radiation (both UVB and UVA) a fabric allows to reach your skin. For example, a UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 % of the sun’s rays and allows 2% (1/50th) to penetrate, thus reducing your exposure risk significantly. A UPF 30 fabric blocks 97% of UV rays and allows roughly 3% of UV transmission. UPF 15 indicates that the fabric blocks roughly 93% of UV rays and allows about 7% of available UV radiation to pass through.

UPF 10 to 30 = Fair Protection
UPF 30 to 50 = Good Protection
UPS 50+ = Excellent Protection

An Important Note about Potential Impurities in Wool Fibers from Chargeurs Wool USA:
"Some of the new wool fabrics may contain impurities in the form of orange fibers and black hair. The orange color is from the polypropylene that can be present as a result of the hay bale ties that farmers use to tie up the wool fibers. The Black hair in domestic wool is common in all US wools and ability to cut these out is limited. Unfortunately all the above are features of the domestic wool clip and can be found in wools of all origins. We are taking care to ensure future lots have as little of the impurities."

Sewing Tips: Wash before creating your garment to get the shrink out.
Product Uses: Winter clothing, socks, hats, scarves, lots of things!
Lovely fabric!

I purchased a swatch so that I could test wash it and see what happens. I cut it to a six inch square and didn’t finish the edges. I threw it in with a white load, regular wash in warm water and tumble dried it on a low heat setting. The first time I washed it, the square came out 6.25 inches across (widest stretch) and 5.25 inches long. It felted up a tiny bit. The second time I washed it, there was no change. It has an easy 50% stretch across the width and 25% stretch lengthwise after washing. It would make a lovely pull on shirt or lightweight but warm sweater, hats, socks, mitten liner, dress, leggings, etc. It would also be very nice for a baby sleep sack or other clothing as it has a very soft hand, and no itching because it’s merino! I imagine it would dye nicely too, even though I will probably leave the natural color because it is a lovely cream. I’m putting this on my wish list. The picture is the swatch after washing twice.
